Microcement FAQ — Studio Cemento
We supply & fit bathrooms and wet rooms, with a full guarantee on our microcement systems.
What is microcement and where can it be used?
Microcement is a thin, high-performance coating applied by trowel (typically 2–3 mm). It delivers a seamless, stone-like finish on walls, floors, bathrooms, wet rooms, furniture and joinery.
One Rock is waterproof even before sealing — ideal for high-moisture spaces.
Studio Cemento supplies and fits — from full bathrooms and wet rooms to bespoke furniture and feature walls.
Is microcement waterproof and suitable for wet rooms & showers?
Yes — microcement is ideal for wet rooms, shower enclosures and bathrooms. Our One Rock microcement is waterproof even before the final sealer for extra protection.
✓ No grout lines • ✓ Easy to wipe down • ✓ Continuous, modern look.
How long does an installation take?
It can take up to 7 days to complete because the system builds over five layers totalling ~3 mm, with each layer given the correct drying time. That’s how we achieve the finish, strength and waterproof integrity.
How durable is it on floors and high-traffic areas?
Microcement is very durable relative to its thickness, especially when protected with our high-performance sealers. Suitable for domestic floors, bathrooms, kitchens and commercial walls. Use felt pads and avoid dragging sharp objects.
What can it go over — tiles, plaster, plasterboard, concrete, MDF?
We can apply over sound substrates including tile, render, screed, plaster/board, cement board and sealed MDF, using the right primers and mesh. We’ll survey and specify prep so the finish stays crack-free.
Is it compatible with underfloor heating?
Yes — microcement works brilliantly over water or electric UFH. We follow heat-up / cool-down protocols and flexible build-ups to manage movement.
Is microcement slippery in bathrooms?
We tailor the sealer and texture to the space. Bathroom floors and wet zones can be finished to meet appropriate slip-resistance while remaining easy to clean.
How do I clean and look after it?
Use pH-neutral cleaners and a soft mop/cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals and scouring pads. We offer care kits and can refresh sealer in future high-wear zones if ever needed.
Do you offer a guarantee?
Yes. Studio Cemento provides a full installation guarantee on our systems when we supply and fit. We’ll outline terms with your quote and handover pack.
How is pricing worked out?
Pricing depends on area, substrate prep, waterproofing, details (niches/benches), and finish. Share drawings/photos or book a survey for a fixed quote. We also supply materials only for trained installers.
