Microcement is a thin, trowel-applied coating — usually around 2–3 mm — that cures to a seamless, stone-like surface with no joints or grout lines. It works on walls, floors, bathrooms, wet rooms, stairs, furniture and joinery. Because it’s so thin, it brings a continuous, hand-finished surface to almost any room.

We supply and fit complete systems, and supply materials to trained applicators across the UK.

We work with an acrylic, polymer-modified microcement system. Rather than being gauged with water, the powder is mixed with an acrylic resin — and that resin is what gives the finish its strength, flexibility and water resistance.

The advantages are real and practical: it bonds tightly to the substrate, stays flexible enough to cope with everyday movement and temperature change, resists water far better than a plain cement mix, and trowels beautifully for a refined finish.

It’s the reason our finishes hold up so well in bathrooms, wet rooms and over underfloor heating.

Both — and that combination is the whole point. Once cured and sealed, the surface is genuinely hard and abrasion-resistant, happy underfoot and on worktops.

At the same time the acrylic resin keeps it slightly flexible, so it can absorb the small movements a building naturally makes — seasonal shifts, gentle vibration, underfloor heating cycling on and off — without becoming brittle. Reinforcing mesh through the base coats adds to that resilience.

Yes. Our One Rock microcement is waterproof in itself, even before it’s sealed — which is exactly what makes it so well suited to showers and wet rooms. In wet areas we still prepare and tank the substrate correctly as part of the system, build the microcement over it, then seal — so water has nowhere to go.

Once the microcement has cured, we seal it with two coats of polyurethane. Polyurethane is the toughest, most hard-wearing protection available for microcement — it adds abrasion, stain and chemical resistance and locks in the waterproofing.

Two coats give an even, durable barrier that keeps the surface looking its best for years. We can finish in matt, satin or gloss to suit the room.

Properly specified and applied, no. Cracking comes from movement or poor preparation — which is precisely what the system is built to manage: a sound, primed substrate, reinforcing mesh through the base coats, and a flexible acrylic finish that moves with the building rather than against it. We survey first and prep accordingly so the finish stays sound.

One Rock comes in a wide colour range and several grain sizes — from a fine, smooth S grain right up to a heavily textured XXL — so you can dial the look from silky and contemporary to raw and tactile. Sealers finish in matt, satin or gloss.

The microcement itself is only around 2–3 mm once complete, so it adds very little to floor or wall levels. That slim build-up is part of what makes it so versatile across different surfaces and rooms.

We apply over sound substrates including tile, render, screed, plaster and plasterboard, cement board and sealed MDF, using the right primers and reinforcing mesh for each. We survey and specify the preparation so the finish bonds well and stays crack-free.

Yes — it works beautifully over water or electric underfloor heating. The flexible acrylic build-up handles the expansion and contraction as the heating cycles on and off, and we follow the correct heat-up and cool-down protocol around installation.

Yes. Microcement makes a seamless, jointless worktop and splashback, sealed with polyurethane for water, stain and everyday wear resistance. As with any worktop, use a board for chopping and a trivet for hot pans rather than placing them straight onto the surface.

We tailor the texture and sealer to the space. Bathroom floors and wet zones can be finished to give appropriate slip resistance while staying easy to clean.

Very, for its thickness — especially under two coats of polyurethane. It’s well suited to domestic floors, bathrooms and kitchens, and to commercial walls. Felt pads under furniture and a little care with sharp or abrasive objects keep it looking its best.

Allow up to seven days. The system builds in several layers to around 3 mm, and each layer needs the correct drying time before the next. That patience is what gives the finish its strength, seamless look and waterproof integrity.

You can usually be back in the room within a day or two of completion, but the sealer keeps hardening over the following days. We’ll give you clear timings at handover for light use, full use, and when a shower or wet room can get wet.

Day to day, a soft cloth or mop and a pH-neutral cleaner is all it needs. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive pads. We offer care kits, and in years to come the sealer can be refreshed in high-wear areas if ever needed.

Yes. Because it’s a hand-applied finish, localised marks or damage can usually be made good and re-sealed to blend into the surrounding surface — one of the quiet advantages of a material applied by hand rather than manufactured in sheets.
