Building a sample board
  1. Make sure the board is clean, dry, level and free of dust or grease.
  2. Prime. Apply Primer or Primer Quartz as supplied — just give the bottle a shake, no mixing needed. Roller, brush or spray. Wait at least 30 minutes before continuing.
  3. Base coat. Apply one coat of OneRock L or XL Base with a metal trowel, working under some pressure. Leave to dry 8–12 hours, then lightly sand (24–40 grit) and vacuum.
  4. Finish coat. Apply one coat of your chosen OneRock S/M/L/XL/XXL texture and colour — metal trowel for M/L/XL/XXL, plastic trowel for S. Leave 6–8 hours, then sand (120 grit for M/L, 220 for S) and vacuum.
  5. Seal. Apply two coats of Varnish W (mixed 5:1) with a short-nap roller, crossing directions to avoid marks. Walkable after 12 hours; full cure in 7 days.
For a full installation (not a sample board) the recommended system is 2 base coats + 1–2 finish coats + 2 coats of Varnish W. The single-coat build above is the quicker route for sample boards only, and uses far less material.
Calculator Pigment Tinting — by Weight Works out how much of each pigment to add to a specific OneRock finish coat tub. Base coats aren't pigmented — colour goes into the finish coat only.
